Abstract:
Objective To investigate the aesthetic results, complications, and satisfaction of all-ceramic micro veneers versus minimally invasive ultra-thin veneers for patients with anterior malocclusion. Methods Patients with anterior malocclusion who were seen and treated at author’s hospital between January 2020 and January 2021 were selected to establish an allceramic micro-veneer group and a minimally invasive ultra-thin veneer group according to the restorative means, with 48 cases in each group. All patients were followed up one year after the restoration, including the application of the modifi ed USPHS evaluation criteria to assess the restorative eff ect of the malocclusion in both groups, comparison of the bone density level, new bone contour, and vertical resorption of alveolar bone in both groups after 1 year of treatment, and the application of the visual analog scale (VAS) to evaluate the satisfaction of the patients with the aesthetic restoration. The restorative success rate and the occurrence of complications were compared between the two groups. Results No statistically signifi cant diff erences were found in the comparison of the two groups’ USPHS score attainment including restoration integrity, color, marginal closeness, marginal staining and translucency at 1 year after surgery (P >0.05); by comparing the two groups’ USPHS score attainment at 1 year after surgery, it can be found that the data diff erences between the two groups were not signifi cant and not statistically signifi cant (P >0.05); the comparison of the two groups’ patient treatment There was no signifi cant statistical diff erence in bone density, new bone contour, and vertical resorption of alveolar bone between the two groups at 1 year after treatment ( P >0.05); the total clinical satisfaction rate in the all-ceramic micro veneer group was lower than that in the minimally invasive ultra-thin veneer group, but there was no signifi cant statistical diff erence in the data comparison (P >0.05); no signifi cant statistical diff erence in the restoration success rate between the two groups (P >0.05); the total complication rate in the all-ceramic micro veneer group signifi cantly decreased than that in the minimally invasive ultrathin veneer group (P >0.05). The total complication rate of the all-ceramic micro veneer group signifi cantly decreased than that of the minimally invasive ultra-thin veneer group (P <0.05). Conclusion There is no signifi cant diff erence between all-ceramic micro veneers and minimally invasive ultra-thin veneers for patients with anterior malocclusion. Patients with anterior malocclusion can take all-ceramic micro veneers or minimally invasive ultra-thin veneers, both of which have good restorative success rates, but all-ceramic micro veneers can eff ectively reduce the risk of complications for patients, but have disadvantages such as staining and chipping. Minimally invasive ultra-thin veneers can eff ectively improve the aesthetics of the aff ected teeth, but have a higher risk of complications; subsequent clinics should choose a scientifi c and appropriate restorative means by combining the actual situation and needs of patients.
