Abstract:
Abstract: Objective This paper discusses the teaching mode of postgraduates in orthodontics experiment course of Xi’an
Jiaotong University, puts forward some suggestions on the management of orthodontics experiment teaching and the
implementation of postgraduates’ teaching assistant in the future, and gives full play to the role of postgraduates’ teaching
assistant in orthodontics experiment teaching. Methods Questionnaire survey was conducted among the fourth-year
undergraduate students(n =44) and the second-and third-year postgraduate in orthodontics(n =18) in Xi’an Jiaotong University.
The survey content mainly included favorable model between teaching assistant model and traditional model, favorite content
and overall evaluation. Results The overall favorable rates for postgraduate teaching assistants model and traditional
teaching model were 85.45% and 86.82%, respectively. There was no statistically signifi cant difference observed between
them(P >0.05). The deficiencies for postgraduate teaching assistant models were mainly lack of professional knowledge
and the ability to motivate students’ learning. Conclusion Postgraduate teaching assistant model not only supplemented the
shortage of teacher resources, but also greatly improved the ability of scientifi c research and logical thinking for postgraduate
students. Therefore, in order to make up the imbalance between teachers and students, optimize the teaching quality, and
improve the ability of postgraduate students, we need to improve the guidance, management and evaluation for postgraduate
teaching assistant model, and further improve the experimental teaching quality in orthodontics.
