Abstract:
Objective To analyze and compare the application eff ects of diff erent restoration methods on patients with atrophic mandibular alveolar ridge. Methods Totally 130 patients with atrophic mandibular alveolar ridge who were treated in the author’s hospital from March 2019 to September 2021 were selected as the research subjects, and they were divided into control group and observation group, with 65 cases in each group. The patients in control group were repaired by traditional method, and the patients in observation group were repaired by biofunctional prosthetic system (BPS). The periodontal conditions [sulcus bleeding index (SBI), plaque index (PLI)], tooth performance (chewing function, tooth aesthetics, stability degree, language function), incidence rate of discomfort, oral health quality of life and the satisfaction of patients towards restoration were compared between the two groups. Results After restoration, the SBI and PLI of the two groups were signifi cantly lower than those before restoration (P <0.05), and the SBI and PLI in observation group were signifi cantly lower than those in control group after treatment (P <0.05). After restoration, the scores of chewing function, tooth aesthetics, tooth stability degree after restoration and language function after restoration were better than those before restoration (P<0.05), and the scores of tooth stability degree and language function after restoration in observation group were signifi cantly better than those in control group (P <0.05). After restoration, the incidence rate of discomfort in observation group was signifi cantly lower than that in control group (P <0.05). After restoration, the score of oral pain, physical function, psychological status and independence and total score of the two groups were signifi cantly reduced (P <0.05), and the scores of items and total score in observation group after restoration were signifi cantly lower than those in control group (P <0.05). After restoration, the satisfaction degree of patients in observation group was signifi cantly better than that in control group (P <0.05). Conclusion BPS for removable denture restoration in patients with atrophic mandibular alveolar ridge has a definite efficacy. Compared with traditional complete denture prosthesis, it can better improve the oral health quality of life after restoration, improve gum bleeding and bacterial infection, and enhance chewing function, language function, tooth stability degree and aesthetics, and make patients more satisfi ed.
